Anyone who dives deep into a topic for the first time observes the phenomenon quickly.

With each passing day, our knowledge of space grows exponentially, but each discovery comes with a dozen more questions to answer. The last century has been enormous for space exploration.

Cain observes that a hundred years ago, we didn't know what galaxies were, or how the sun generates its energy. Now, we're discovering new galaxies every day — and we're actually harnessing the power of the sun through solar technologies.

Even though we've answered many of the burning questions that weigh on astronomers, there are plenty of others that are equally perplexing. Cain runs through a few of them, and it's hard to keep your mind from running away. This stuff is befuddling.
