We've covered Samantha Cristoforetti before — her introduction to the toilets on the ISS comes to mind — but this time, she's achieved something that's really worth writing home about.

Cristoforetti just became the woman with the longest single space flight, and the ESA astronaut with the longest uninterrupted flight. She first ascended to the space station in November of last year. In case you're interested, cameras were there to capture her arrival, and we've included that clip below. When Samantha makes her flight home on June 11, she'll have spent nearly 5 more days in space than Sunita Williams (the previous female record holder), who completed an almost-195-day journey back in 2007.

As an Italian national, it's no surprise the Cristoforetti also owns this achievement: she's the first person to have enjoyed a fresh-brewed espresso aboard the ISS. Morning might not come with a sunrise on the ISS, but that doesn't mean it's any less of a rude awakening. We're all better people with a bit of caffeine in our systems!
