1976 was a year to remember for America. We celebrated the United States Bicentennial, we put the first spacecraft on Mars (Viking 1), and the Yankees got swept in the World Series.
One young Los Angeles boy thought it right to commemorate the year by sealing off some prized possessions that, in his mind, encapsulated 1976. Thirty-eight years later, he received word that the neighborhood of the house he grew up in was being demolished and redeveloped, so he reached out to the developer. Fortunately for him, he was able to get in there before they destroyed the time capsule — and luckily for us, he brought a camera. There's nothing earth-shattering in the bucket, but it's certainly an interesting look into what one young boy thought would be worth looking at from 1976 in 2076.
