Clouds are incredible. There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. As long as the weather's not completely overcast or clear, there's likely something amazing brewing right above your head right now, hidden by the roof above you. The clip below highlights some rarer cloud formations, and there's a part of me that feels if this is possible, there's nothing that isn't.

Nacreous clouds resemble flashy iridescent clouds, but they take things to a whole different level. They're far rarer than their similarly shining cousins, only occurring in the winter months of high-latitude locations, and their glow is far more intense. If you're lucky enough to catch one of these, you'll be treated to a post-sunset show of "vivid and slowly shifting iridescent colours."

Mammatus clouds are benign, but their striking appearance might make you think otherwise. According to the University of Illinois, they're "usually seen after the worst of a thunderstorm has passed," so if you see these hanging overhead, you can rest easy with the knowledge that relief is near.

The imagery in the clip below is stunning, and descriptions of these clouds void of pictures are simply a disservice.
