NASA's New Horizons probe has shown the world more this year than most teachers hope to communicate in a year's lesson. Between giving us our first real look at the far-off world, and showing us launch speeds we never thought were possible, there's an endless list of awesome things that NASA has done with New Horizons — but they're not the only ones.

One of the best things about NASA's imagery being in the public domain is that others are able to use and remix it, and often times, the results are incredible. Look no further than this epic animation from Björn Jónsson, which stitches together the pictures from the New Horizons Pluto flyby to create a sweeping view of this icy dwarf planet. It looks pretty lackluster in the far approach of Pluto, but as it nears and perspective shifts, things get awesome. Seeing Pluto's atmosphere illuminated from the backside, with Charon passing by, is absolutely incredible.
